Episode 42 – Finding the Right Man and the Right Church

by | Nov 11, 2019 | Listener Questions, Rebuilding, The Flying Free Podcast | 3 comments

I got together with these lovely abuse advocates a couple of weekends ago including Julie Anne (Spiritual Sounding Board), Sarah McDugal (Women in Leadership Development), Rachel Harden, Rebecca Farris, and Kimberly, and we decided to do a podcast episode together answering two listener questions. One question about finding a good man post-divorce, and another question about how to find a good church after being hurt by a bad one.

Lots of great discussion in this episode!

I just listened to podcast 42 “How to find the right man and the right church.” It has been SO life giving to hear these podcasts you cannot even know!❤ I cannot begin to express how thankful I am for all these stories and women who are speaking up and helping other women who are in these type of relationships or have come out of them! Manipulation and spiritual abuse are no joke! All my gratitude and love! You all are rock stars!!

“Deal breakers-Advice for single women” is your article that seeded my awakening to realize what kind of relationship I was in.
Things I wish I had known:
Saying no sometimes and voicing your own opinion when it disagrees with his are good ‘ tests’.
Watch for behaviors and requests that isolate you from your friends and family.
If you are embarrassed to tell your friends things he says or does and find it difficult to confront him on those things for fear of backlash.
If he is often giving unsolicited advice to others and how they should do better, and always critical of those around whether close or stranger. ( waitress, family, coworker, doctor, speaker)
If you are afraid of losing the relationship and willing to compromise your values and personality to keep it you are in a position to be manipulated.
